My Musical Influences

I've been singing ever since I can remember but when people would ask me who my musical influences are, I would just be lost and mumble to myself and will shyly asnwer "None". Well I have musical influences when I was little but for sure you don't know them. But that was before, back when I was really clueless who were the artists whom I can really look up to.

So for this post, I'd like to share to all of you some of my musical influences in the Christian music industry.

Yolanda Adams

First stop is Ms. Yolanda Adams. I've come to know her music since 2009 but she's been in the Gospel Music scene since 1991. I love the way she sings. She sings with power. I literally had goosebumps all over when I listened to her song That Name.
Adams was named by the Billboard Magazaine as the #1 Gospel Artist of the last decade last October 2009.

mm.. that's me singing my own version of That Name by Yolanda Adams back in 2009. I apologize for the poor quality.

Mary Mary
I've been an instant fan of these American gospel duo ever since I can remember! Does Shackles (Praise You) ring a bell? Yup they were the one who started the urban contemporary gospel music back in 2000. I like the way they blend their voices. They're sisters actually, Erika Campbell and Tina Campbell. They're really, really amazing!

Britt Nicole
Yey it's Britt Nicole over here! I super, super, supeeerrr love this blonde girl! I love her music so much. Here in this picture, this is the cover of her second album entitled Acoustic. Britt certainly has a unique way of sharing her message – in particular, the truth that lasting love, security, and acceptance are ultimately found through a relationship with Jesus. This is a message young women in our culture desperately need to hear. You. Should. Listen. To. Her. Songs.  :)
There are still a list of people/band whom I look up to when it comes to music and some them are:
Kirk Franklin, Martha Munizzi, Karen Peck and New River, Kutless, Natalie Grant, Nicole Mullen  etc..

I could not pass this post without mentioning my secret inspiration. She's really talented. She has unique and beautiful voice and she plays the piano as well. Annnnd she's a UPC!
This Puerto Rican artist from San Diego, California is only 19 years old! Her first single which is in Spanish, Corriendo Atras De Ti meaning "Running After You" is now available on iTunes. You can also listen to her song in this link: http://www.reverbnation.com/sarairivera
