Lessons Learned

AKO NA NURSE!
Surreal. Surreal. Surreal.
Honestly, I still can't organize my thoughts until now! But I will try my very best to put my feelings and emotions into words.
I'd like to share to you all what taking the Nurse Licensure Examination has taught me.
Here are my top 5 lessons learned.

1. It pays to be an obedient daughter. Weeks before the exam, I told my mom that I don't want to take the board. I told her that I can't do it. But my mom insisted that I take it. As in with full force and conviction! Sapilitan? I even cried cause I'm not sure if I'm really ready to face the "monsters". I don't want to risk it.
But as what the old saying goes, "Mother knows best", is absolutely true! If there's one person in my life that has a great influence in me, it's my mother. I know that my victory is hers as well. I love you, mama!

2. Hard work + determination will surely take you places. Last year was not my year. I know some of you might know why but yes, it really was the hardest year of my life!
Reviewing and working at the same time was no piece of cake, seriously! It was so stressful! All I could do is kneel and pray to God and asked for His guidance, to give me enough strength and to overcome all the trials I'm facing. Some of my classmates were even surprised to know that I was working while reviewing for the board. I am not boasting but that's the truth.

3. It's better to keep your plans to yourself. Why? Because some people may say that they will support you all the way but deep inside them, they're wishing that you'll fail. Crab mentality, familiar? Yes, that's the sad truth. Some will say that they're happy for you but what you don't know is that they secretly envy you. That's why when I took the board, no one knew it but my family. Yes I did lie a little bit to those people who've  asked me if I took the boards and I told them no. I hope you guys would understand.

4. Being humble in all circumstances. All of these experiences have taught me how to kneel more in prayer. I know that God's got greater plans for us than we have for ourselves. IPeter 5:6 says "Humble yourselves therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time." :)

5. Pray hard. God is more than happy if we always find time to talk to Him. He is always willing to listen. He is always willing to help us. A song just popped in to my head right now and it says... "My God is so great! So strong and so mighty there's nothing my God cannot do for you, and you, and you!"

Everything I am, everything I have, it's because of your mercy, love and grace in my life, Lord.
I am blessed!

Hannah, RN :)
